Purpose - The IFDA Educational Foundation has established the Marketing Internship Scholarship to support interns in the industry's publishing, public relations, and marketing areas. This scholarship addresses a large and important segment of the industry and IFDA membership, one that provides much of the muscle in IFDA. There is little support available for those desiring to enter this field. Jeanne Byington of the New York chapter conceived the idea of this scholarship; funding began at the IFDA Conference auction in 2000.
Eligibility - An individual who is pursuing the marketing aspect of the design/home furnishings industry, such as a) currently enrolled full-time college student, b) a professional changing career fields or someone entering or reentering the job market.
Applicants need to have found or already be engaged in an internship position whose term will be for a period of 2- 6 months, either unpaid or providing a modest stipend and/or other minor perks with a value of less than $1,000 total. The internship must be directly involved in marketing, advertising or promoting products or services in the design/home or contract furnishings industry. This may be with public relations, advertising, marketing, or publishing firm, or with an interior design/home or contract furnishings industry company, working directly in one of these areas. IFDA EF does not provide internships or internship lead information. That is the sole responsibility of the applicant.
Application requirements:
•Completed application form
